Underfloor Heating
Underfloor Heating
Expansion and Contraction
Timber flooring is subject to expansion and contraction - this is due to the moisture in the environment. During the winter boards will contract slightly as the air is drier due to the central heating being on. In summer the opposite occurs whereby the boards may expand slightly, this is because the air in the local environment has more moisture in it. Underfloor heating magnifies the extent of temperature change and moisture content in the local environment.
